Export settings

Use the toggle switches to control which settings you want to export:

  • Settings of the mail server,

  • Users

  • Filter (malware and spam) and quarantine settings.

The export by default creates an unencrypted *.json file in your download directory. If you activate the "Encode result" switch, an encrypted *.enc file is created.

If you have activated the "Encrypt result" toggle, a secure password consisting of letters and numbers is shown on the screen.

Make sure you remember this password! Without this password, the exported file cannot be imported again. For data protection reasons, it is also not stored in the G DATA Web-Portal.

Import settings

Use the toggle switches to control which settings you want to import:

  • Settings of the mail server,

  • Users

    • If there is a user in the current database but not in the backup file, the existing user remains unchanged. A deletion will not be performed.

    • If there is a user in the current database and in the backup file, user settings are taken from the backup file. The current settings are overwritten.

    • If a user only exists in the backup file, it is added to the current database. An import is carried out first. SHowever, if the user does not have a valid mailbox in Exchange, it is automatically removed again after synchronization with the Exchange server.

  • Filter (malware and spam) and quarantine settings.

You can import a *.json file created by an export or an encrypted *.enc file.

If you want to import an *.enc, please enter the password that was displayed when you created the file.

As soon as you click on the Import configuration button, the settings are imported. The existing settings will be overwritten immediately!
