Real-time protection
The real-time protection of the virus guard continuously checks your computer for viruses, it controls write and read operations and as soon as a programme wants to execute malicious functions or spread harmful files, the Guard prevents this. The virus guard is your most important protection! It should always be switched on!
-
Switch off the virus guard: If you still want to switch off the virus guard, you can do so here. If you want to optimise the performance of your computer by switching off the virus guard, please make sure to check, whether you might not get the desired result with a different setting of the virus guard. For this purpose, you have the option of accessing the corresponding changes to the settings when you switch off the virus guard. To do this, please click on Security / Change Performance and follow the indications. Alternatively, you can of course completely switch off the virus guard.

*Switch off behavioural monitoring (BEAST): Behavioural monitoring is an intelligent detection of unknown malware that provides additional protection independent of virus signatures. Behavioural monitoring should generally be switched on.
To use the full protection of your G DATA software, it is recommended to leave the behaviour monitoring switched on. If you still want to deactivate the protection, then click on Disable BEAST (behaviour monitoring) and select whether you want to deactivate the protection until the computer is restarted or whether you want to deactivate it permanently. The real-time protection is marked with an orange exclamation mark and the indication "BEAST (behaviour monitoring) off".

Turn off Anti-Ransomware: The Anti-Ransomware protection component detects ransomware actions (encryption and deletion of files) and blocks them before files are encrypted or shadow copies are deleted.
The protection component works in the background and monitors file system events. The events are evaluated with heuristics. If harmful behaviour is detected via the heuristics, the protection component starts an internal removal phase. During this phase, all suspicious processes are finished and relevant executable files and processes are placed in quarantine.

Switch off DeepRay: DeepRay stops malware using artificial intelligence, significantly increasing your protection.
