The virus scan freezes. What can I do?
This guide shows how to proceed if the virus scan stops or does not show any progress over a very long period of time. The cause of this problem may be defective files.
1 |
First, delete temporary files that are no longer needed. To do this, open Windows Explorer and type
in the address bar. Now delete the contents of the AppData temp folder. |
|
2 |
In addition, delete the Windows temporary files. To do this, open Windows Explorer and type
into the address bar. Delete the contents of the Windows temp folder. |
|
3 |
Errors in the file system as well as bad sectors on your data medium can also have an influence on the virus scan. Therefore, in Windows Explorer, right-click on the system drive (normally drive C:\) and select Properties. |
|
4 |
In the settings that are now visible, go to Tools → Error checking → Check. |
|
5 |
Click on Scan Drive or (under Windows 7) on Start and answer the following dialog with Yes. |
|
6 |
Restart your system. Immediately before Windows starts, the hard disk scan is started. Repeat steps 1-4 for all other drives (if present). |
|
7 |
Open your G DATA software and start the virus scan via Virus Scan → Scan Computer. |
