G DATA Business Solutions: Move the update path of the G DATA Management Servers
Sometimes it may be necessary to change the storage directory for program and signature files downloaded from G DATA Management Server. For example, if our designated C:\ drive does not have sufficient capacity, or internal company policies prohibit storing data on the C:\ drive.
It is not possible to swap the signatures to a network drive! |
This is how you place the path on a local drive of your choice:
1. |
Close G DATA Administrator and stop the G DATA Management Server service. |
2. |
Copy the Updates folder from the C:\ProgramData\G DATA\AntiVirus ManagementServer directory to the location where you want to place the updates in the future. |
3. |
Open the config.xml file from the C:\Program Files (x86)\G DATA\G DATA AntiVirus ManagementServer directory using a text editor. |
4. |
Under group Name="Folder" adjust the following entry: setting name="UpdateDistributionFolder" type="string" value="C:\ProgramData\G DATA\AntiVirus ManagementServer\Updates". Examplesetting name="UpdateDistributionFolder" type="string" value="D:\Updates" |
5. |
Save the changes. |
6. |
Open the file IUpdateCfg.xml from the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\G DATA\G DATA AntiVirus ManagementServer |
7. |
Enter the path you have chosen for BasePath (see point 3). |
8. |
Save the changes. |
9. |
Start the G DATA Management Server service. From the next update, the signatures will be stored in the newly defined directory. |
