G DATA Business Solutions: Distribute server names on the client per GPO to Windows endpoints

The information about where G DATA Management Server is located is stored in the registry under the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\G DATA\AVKClient
Value: Server

If you want to change this specification on a larger number of clients, it is possible to distribute this via a Microsoft standard GPO.

1.

Open the Group Policy Management Console.

2.

Right-click on your domain in the left-hand object structure and select Create group policy object here to create a new group policy (GPO).

3.

Give the policy a name.

4.

Right-click on the new group policy and select Edit.

5.

In the object tree, navigate to Computer Configuration > Settings > Windows Settings > Registry.

6.

Right-click Registration and select New > Registration Item.

7.

Fill in the input window as follows:

Structure:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Key path:

SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\G DATA\AVKClient

Name:

Server

Value type:

REG_SZ

Value data:

Enter the name, IP or domain of your G DATA Management Server here.

If you still have 32bit systems in use, repeat steps 6-7 and enter at key path: SOFTWARE\G DATA\AVKClient.

ONLY WHEN USING TENANTS (MES):

Determine the PackageID for the relevant client.

Repeat steps 6-7 and apply the

for name: PackageID

for value data: The determined PackageID of the client.

10.

Wait until all clients have reported and sorted themselves into the correct client.

Once the clients have reported to the correct G DATA Management Server, you can delete the group policy again.
