G DATA Business Solutions: Security Client Migration
To migrate G DATA Security Client to a new G DATA Management Server, a change in the Windows Registry of the client system is required.
The exact procedure depends on the organisation of your network environment, whether Active Directory is used.
With an Active Directory
When using an Active Directory, we recommend creating a group policy to modify the registry.
1. |
Open the Group Policy Management (gpedit.msc). |
||
2. |
Right-click on the domain and select Create and link group policy object here. |
||
3. |
Enter an appropriate name for the policy. |
||
4. |
Right-click on the policy and select Edit. |
||
5. |
Navigate to Computer Configuration → Settings → Windows Settings → Registration on the left. |
||
6. |
In the right-hand pane, right-click and select New → Registration Item. |
||
7. |
Set the following properties:
|
||
8. |
Confirm your changes with OK. |
||
9. |
Once all clients have made contact with the new G DATA Management Server, the group policy can be deleted. |
Without an Active Directory
Without Active Directory, the change to the registry must be made directly at the clients.
1. |
Start the Registration Editor (regedit.exe). |
2. |
Navigate to the following key: 64-bit systems: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\G DATA\AVKClient. 32-bit systems: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\G DATA\AVKClient. |
3. |
Change the content of the string Server to the host name or IP address of the new G DATA Management Server system. NOTE: Depending on the number of clients to be migrated, it is recommended to create a .REG file with the updated entry and import it at the client systems. |
4. |
Delete the strings SecondaryServer and SubnetServer if they exist. |
5. |
Navigate to or create the Neuralyzer > 1 subkey. |
6. |
In Neuralyzer > 1, create a DWORD value (32-bit) called ConfData and give it the value 3. |
7. |
Restart the computer. |
